How to be less stressed in your Wedding Business

As a wedding business owner, you will find yourselves taking on numerous roles and responsibilities to keep your business thriving, but without a business strategy, these tasks can quickly become overwhelming. To avoid burnout and maintain a healthy work-life balance, make sure you are following my 5 top tips for managing the stress and pressures of a successful business owner.
Set Boundaries
It is essential to establish personal boundaries with your clients and other wedding suppliers. For example, establish how you will be communicating with other businesses as well as your clients. Is it through email only, or do you allow texts and phone calls? Set specific work hours during the day, such as 9am and 4pm, when you are available to respond and communicate. Whatever boundaries you choose, it’s crucial to communicate them clearly and consistently to those around you, and to stick to them yourself!
You can write your working days and hours on your website and in your client contracts so there is no misunderstanding.
Tip: Try having a separate work phone that you can turn off after working hours so you don’t get tempted to answer business emails or messages outside of work hours.
Don’t take on too much work
Yes, we all love it when you are flooded with enquiries to work with you, but don’t take on too many clients that you will be spreading yourself too thin. You need to schedule time for rest, family and activities you enjoy outside of work. Just because lots of couples want you to work on their wedding doesn’t mean you have to say yes to them all – prioritise your health and well-being first.
Streamline your business
Take time before the busy wedding season approaches to automate and streamline certain aspects of your business to save you time later. This could be having a proposal template ready-made where you can edit the details and customize them for each client. It could be investing in a CRM system or writing email templates that you can automatically send out to clients. Choose an invoicing system that will automatically send out invoices and reminders for payments so you don’t have to stress about chasing any unpaid invoices.
Prioritising your health
Schedule your daily walk, time with your family, holidays and relaxing activities before booking endless weddings this year. If you book a wedding every weekend for months on end, you will start to resent your work, not spend any time with family and friends and start to feel the effects of burnout. Travelling to events, the planning and the stress of wedding days can catch up with you, so prioritise your happiness and well-being before your work.
Work with a Virtual Assistant
Delegate tasks to a team member or virtual assistant to free up more of your time and ensure you don’t have to be doing every task in your business yourself. Your Virtual Assistant can manage your diary so you don’t get too busy, will complete time-consuming admin tasks and be a support for you and your business.
