What does a wedding content creator actually do (& do you need one)?

Why do you need a Wedding Content Creator?

You’ve probably already booked your photographer and videographer, and they’ll give you the timeless photos and films you’ll treasure forever, but here’s the thing most couples don’t really think about until after the wedding: what are we going to post?

Once you start seeing what your friends and family have shared to social media and the messages from people who couldn’t make it asking for a glimpse of your day, you’ll find yourself wanting wedding videos of your own to put out there. That’s exactly the gap a wedding content creator fills. Having high quality content (and not scrambling through what your guests managed to record) means you get to share your special moments instantly and relive parts of your wedding way before the official gallery arrives.

And let’s be honest, have you ever tried to crop a beautifully composed professional photo into a square for Instagram or cut a three minute wedding film into a snappy Reel? It just doesn’t work (and that’s okay), because they were never meant for that. They’re made for photo albums and big screens and not for scrolling on your phone. Instead of trying to force pro photos and videos into formats they weren’t built for, I capture content that’s high quality and designed for socials from the start.

What does a content creator do at your wedding?

Don’t worry you won’t be stepping into any stiff poses for me! I’m just like any other vendor and my job is to capture authentic and candid photos and videos of your special day. Most of the time I’ll blend quietly into the background so I can catch the behind-the-scenes moments and interactions you might not even notice at the time.

While your photographer is focused on creating beautiful framed portraits and your videographer is crafting a cinematic video, I’m tuned into the smaller moments that could otherwise slip away. Now and then you might spot me working alongside your photographer because some moments deserve to be captured both for the album and for social media, but you can think of me as an extension of them as a vendor at your wedding.

What wedding day content do you actually get?

Within 24 hours you’ll receive a gallery of hundreds of candid photos alongside reels that are already edited and ready to post.

Before your wedding day, we’ll hop on a call where you can tell me if there are any specific trends, sounds, or ideas you’d love me to capture. Maybe you’ve seen a reel you want to recreate or maybe you’d rather leave me to do my thing with a documentary style approach and a keen eye for the details. Either way, you’ll know your social media wedding day content is in safe hands.

My standard delivery includes three edited 30-second reels, which can either follow the same vibe and documentary style editing, or each take a different direction depending on if there’s something specific you’d like. And because you’ll also get the raw candid shots too, you’ll never be scrambling through your family group chat asking them to send over photos! You and your guests can stay fully present, knowing I’ve got your socials covered from start to finish.

5 moments I recommend you capture…

Here are five kinds of content you’ll absolutely want and that I recommend to my couples when they’re unsure:

  1. Bridal party getting ready –  this always makes for a fun set of photos! You with your best friends having a laugh and getting ready together.
  2. Guest reactions – Let me capture the tears (and cheers) you wouldn’t notice in the moment.
  3. The highlights – I call these the ‘must-post moments’ : vows, confetti, first dance and candid moments of you two together.
  4. Cocktail hour candids – While you’re off having photos, your guests are sipping, chatting and laughing – let me capture that for you!
  5. Decor – You’ve spent months if not years planning every detail of your wedding and aesthetic, seeing it all come together is something a lot of couples miss on the day so I recommend capturing this so you can see all of your efforts paid off.

So.. Is a wedding content creator worth it?

In my opinion, a wedding content creator is absolutely worth it, because what we bring to your day is immediate, raw, behind-the-scenes content that’s designed with social media in mind and also works alongside your professional photography and videography.

We’re there to capture the organic moments you might not notice yourself and to make sure your guests can relax, put their phones away and be in the moment with you.

A huge plus is the fact you’ll receive all of your wedding day content within 24 hours which means you already have something to look through, enjoy, and share while you’re still waiting for your official gallery. And in a world where social media is such a big part of how we stay connected, wanting high quality content that’s reflective of your day is completely natural (if not encouraged).
