Why Your Wedding Business’ Instagram isn’t Growing

Most wedding businesses rely on Instagram as a big part of their marketing and as a result put a lot of effort into curating the perfect feed to attract potential clients. However, it can feel like a relentless slog when you are posting and not seeing the results in growth you were hoping for. So why isn’t your wedding business’ Instagram growing? Well, without a social media strategy, it’s difficult to actually get your content in front of the right audience.

Instagram provides its users with many tools to engage and grow their audiences. From stories, to reels, there are so many ways for potential clients to interact with your content.  Understanding how each tool works, will help you harness their full potential for growing your business. Instagram rewards posts that hold viewers’ attention longer. Instagram users are likely to spend more time on a carousel, swiping through each page, or watching a reel more than once to soak in the content. Using these types of posts can help increase the amount of screen time spent on your content and therefore, make it more likely for your posts to be shared with other accounts.

Like with any social media, on Instagram it’s important to interact with other users and build and maintain relationships. When you share a post, make sure you tag the other vendors you’ve worked with. They will be more likely to interact with your post and repost it themselves, getting your post more exposure. Don’t forget to also tag the location, as this can help potential clients find you when they are searching for the same location.

Another side to being social on Instagram is making sure that you don’t just post and ghost. It’s important to engage with other wedding vendors and suppliers on social media. It takes time to build relationships and interacting regularly with other vendors will make you more visible and build relationships. If you share a post and spend some time before and after posting engaging with other wedding suppliers, it will make it more likely for them to see your new content.

If you only post occasionally on Instagram, a story once in a while, and a feed post when you have time, it’s harder for your audience to connect with you. Even if you can’t commit to posting multiple times a week, if you remain consistent on the days and times you post it will help keep your audience engaged and trusting of what you are sharing. If you can only post once or twice a week, then try to share three stories throughout the week as well.

While you can spend lots of time agonising over making sure your post is perfect, stories can be more natural and spur of the moment. They are a great way for your audience to get to know your personality. Even just resharing to your stories images you love from other wedding vendors can help keep your audience engaged and learn more about your personality and aesthetic

Using analytic tools like the ones provided on Instagram can be incredibly helpful in informing your future posts. From the analytics see what kind of posts work well, how effective the hashtags you’ve been using are and the times your audience is most active.  Study what performs well for your account and repeat it. Your audience will want to come back to you for the same niche, so give them what they want.

You should also be using Instagram as a source for research. You can keep up to date with what wedding trends are popular with your dream clients, what your competitors are doing and how they are interacting with their audience. You can use this research to inform your own Instagram practices, but make sure your personality shines through in your Instagram actions.

Running and growing your wedding business’ Instagram account takes time and attention to detail. Making sure that you use your time efficiently to maximise the potential for your posts reaching your dream clients is important. If you stay consistent, study your analytics and use the different tools Instagram provides you with, you’ll have a much better chance at growing and maintaining your instagram account.
